Letters of Recommendation

I purchased a home with the assistance of Dan Marks. One of the houses Dan showed me turned out to be my “dream house”, but getting to the closing date was a complicated process that was fraught with real estate and legal issues, coding problems and emotionalism. Dan dealt with every issue providing professional guidance, knowledge of electrical, plumbing, city code and ongoing reassurance. I recommend Dan Marks as an extremely competent Realtor and without hesitation would employ him as my real estate agent again in the future.

When Dan asked us if we were interested in selling our property; we decided to go ahead with a listing. After all, we bought the property for $3000 in 1970 or 1971 and felt that we certainly had nothing to lose. His exuberance, enthusiasm and self-confidence were great motivators for us. However, when he told us that he could probably sell the property for $80,000, we really felt that he was being overly confident and also thought that he had a few “loose (or missing) screws.” We were certain of this, when he changed the listing price to $88,000. After three weeks, though, we accepted an offer for $90,000! Thanks to Dan we made a gain of 3000 percent! I guess one has to be a bit “crazy” to successfully sell real estate.

It is not easy to buy a house six thousand miles from one’s home. There are details, complications, the time difference to consider and the Peter Principle … whatever can go wrong, will. I could not have gotten through all of this without the help of Dan Marks. His office should designate Dan their relocation expert. I met Dan via the internet when I emailed his office about a house they had listed. Dan arranged to spend two days exclusively with me, had a number of properties lined up for viewing, critiqued each as we went through them and shared information about the locations and neighborhoods which only an island resident would know. When I found the house I wanted, he negotiated an excellent price for me and even asked for a couple of large items, which make life more comfortable, that I did not think to ask for and got them! What a nice bonus when I saw them on the paperwork. Dan stayed with me every step of the way helping me with the insurance matters, the electric company, inspection, appraisal and escrow. He did not just sell me the house and walk away. Truly, I could not have waded through all of this without his prompt and efficient attention. I am grateful and encourage his office to advertise Dan their “Relocation Specialist”.

Everyone knows what a daunting task buying a home can be. Add to that the long distance factor that often accompanies a home purchase and you have a recipe for sleepless nights and endless floor-pacing.

We want to say that Dan Marks, our Realtor, took almost all of the worry out of the process for us. On top of buying a home site unseen, we had time issues and a financial debacle. Dan ushered us safely through all of it. We found Dan through his website. Disillusioned with our Realtor, we called Dan and asked if he was the man for the job; we needed someone to be our eyes and ears. Dan took pains to photograph properties for us and submitted numerous bids on our behalf.
